Yes, they are strange. We had a dead one in our yard last year that was hit by a car and I couldn't help but stare at it's features. I don't think you'd want one as a pet. I'm almost sure they carry rabies. They are less harmful than the Possums - as he just wandered away from me. The Possum we found in our back yard tried to take a swing at our dog when we found it licking the oil from the deep fried turkey pot....he was extremely defensive, but I chased him off with a broom.
